About CarCanAfford
Free, private, plain-language auto loan calculators for American car buyers.
Why this site exists
Buying a car is one of the largest financial decisions most people ever make, and the math that matters most — the full monthly cost, not just the loan payment — is the part nobody shows you upfront. Dealers quote a monthly payment; listing sites show a sticker price; neither tells you whether the car fits your budget after insurance, gas, maintenance, and depreciation.
CarCanAfford exists to close that gap. Each calculator answers one concrete question buyers actually ask — "how much car can I afford?", "is leasing cheaper than buying?", "when does refinancing pay off?" — and each one ships with a short guide written in plain language, not dealer jargon.
How we stay free
This site is supported by advertising. That's the whole business model: the calculators are free, unlimited, and require no account, and there is no "pro" tier hiding your results. Keeping the tools client-side (everything runs in your browser) also keeps our costs low, which keeps the site free.
What we're not
We are not auto lenders, brokers, or financial advisors. Every number on this site is an estimate based on standard auto loan math and widely used guidelines. Loan programs, rates, taxes, insurance, and fees vary — for anything that affects real money, please consult a qualified auto finance professional. See our Terms of Service for the full picture.
Privacy, briefly
We don't have user accounts and we don't want your data. Calculations run entirely in your browser; nothing you type into a calculator is sent to us. Read the full Privacy Policy for details.
